Babes Bolyai University Museum is located at 4 Mihail Kogalniceanu, Cluj-Napoca. It was founded in 2001. Its collections now include over 750 original songs and facsimile (student cards, yearbooks, university textbooks, documents, certificates, postcards, photographs, various scientific instruments, medals, etc.)..
With them are reconstructed history and activities of all colleges, faculties and universities that existed successively in Cluj-Napoca, starting from the sixteenth century (in 1581 when the Jesuit College was created, led by Rector-monk Antonio Possevino) until today. Among the exhibits displayed here, is especially remarkable collection of vintage photographs, totaling about 500 blocks - which shows, in striking images, remarkable moments of university life, especially in the interwar period.
Babes Bolyai University Museum is divided into two main parts: the permanent exhibition, the museum ezerva - accessible only to specialists for research and documentation, a small library of works on the history of Romanian universities is being set up.
Introducing the evolution of Romanian university "King Ferdinand" occupies the greater part of the museum's permanent exhibition. Section is distinguished by the objects and photographs on display. Also in the permanent exhibition at the Museum Babes Bolyaisunt presented data related to the establishment of the university. A special section is devoted to the Cluj University great personalities over time who have made outstanding contributions both to the development of this institution, and the progress of science and world culture.
