Austrian Military Monument "Victoria" is dedicated to the events of 1848-1849 was high in memory of Austrian troops garrisoned Timisoara victory over Hungarian revolutionaries led by General József Bem, who have besieged the city for 107 days.
The monument is located on the path Lipovei in the Heroes Cemetery in Timisoara. It was built by order of Emperor Franz Josef I and inaugurated on 17 January 1853. Creation of the architect Josef Kranner. Built of stone in Gothic style.
Austrian Military Monument "Victoria is built on a base representing the city's fortified walls and has the following composition elements: a canopy supported by four horses, the middle element is the main finding - the statue of a woman is holding the keys to the city - which symbolizes Fidelity and high above the canopy is a thin roof, which ends with a double flower. Around the pedestal there are four smaller scale of the statues, representing: Honesty, Obedience, Vigilance, sacrifice. On 27 October 1918, when Austria surrendered -Hungary to Timisoara demonstrations took place. The statue in the middle, Fidelity, was mocked, and the four small statues were destroyed. Currently, the main statue, Fideliatea can be seen at the Museum of Banat.
