Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is located Avram Iancu Square, Cluj-Napoca.Cladirea was built between 1920 - 1930 and is dedicated to the Assumption. "He became cathedral arhiepiscoplala in 1973, and plans were made by the architects George and Constantine Cristinel Pomponiu.
The cathedral was built in Byzantine-influenced style Brancoveanu. The interior was painted between 1928 - 1933 by teachers and artists and Anastasius Demian Catul Bogdan. The exterior is made of stone and bompotoc Baciu. The works performed were of great complexity and finesse. Central tower is surrounded by four smaller domes and large dome rotunda surrounded by 18 columns was painstakingly carved. It is equipped with four bells, brought from Hungary. The largest bell weighs 2 tons
