Continued upgrades by creating a lounge for celebrities, with the 1960 visit of U.S. President Richard Nixon, in Romania. He later built a new track of 3500 m, and implemented a new lighting system. Enough processing capacity from 35-40 aircraft per hour.
In 1992, Otopeni Airport became a full member of the Airport Council International. Currently, the airport can process passengers per hour to 1000-1200 and has four modern air bridges.
Bucharest Otopeni Airport is one of the most modern in Eastern Europe and is still under development. In the past ten years exclusivity in particular airport was closed due to the development of Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara airports, stations that have become important for TAROM, Carpatair and Romanian national airline, a private company which operates flights from other regions .
Currently, Otopeni Airport has two terminals, one for domestic flights and one for international flights [5]. It also has nine boarding gates [5].
