Paltinis is located on the northeast slope Cindrel in Southern Carpathians, 32 km from Sibiu.
Well-known holiday resort and was founded in 1894 by Siebenbürgische Karpathen Verein (SKV, Transylvanian Carpathian Society).
The mountains is known to be the oldest resort in the country, but located at the highest altitude (1442 m).
Current center of the resort consists of villas, some of them formed the nucleus of Păltiniş so-called "place of cure."Of these, some are preserved and historic monuments: Tourists House (built in 1894), Doctor House (1895) and Hall Munich (1898). Paltinis resort enjoys a temperate and boreal alpine climate with Western influences.
