Putna Monastery
Where Putna Valley opens at the foot Obcina Mare, rose first founded by Stephen the Great, Putna Monastery, the country's first ecclesiastical institution designed to support, cultural and religious realm, the ruler who fought for independence and strengthening state.

Putna Monastery is:

In 1481 the site was erected walls, with towers at the corners and mid-sides.From Stephen's monastery fortifications remained Treasury Tower on the west side and east inscription on the bell tower. Treasure tower is two floors with a heated patio with a castellated parapet, discovered, which was then covered with a pitched roof. Light entering through the narrow windows, decorated with carved stone borders in a manner that recalls the late Gothic secular.
Tower ground floor entry is crossed by a floor and a vaulted passage with battlements (c. 17-18)
At the heart chamber is the church:

The present church is the monastery of Putna sec.18 with some modifications, but the plan is the original:
porch was added

small window frames, decor rectangular cross rods or perforated eardrums arch with spiral motifs are traditional Moldovan.
The iconostasis was restored in the 17th century James Puteanul.Were preserved tombstones in the south of the mortuary canopy (of Stephen the Great, who died in 1504) ledger is decorated with four heart-shaped medallions and bull head.
In the north - the grave of Mrs. Mary Mangop (m.1477), and stones of two sons, Stefan cel Mare Bogdan (m.1479) and Peter (m.1480) Mrs Mary Voichita.
In the narthex were preserved tombstones of the Blind Bogdan Voda (m.1517), the Princess Mary, daughter of Stefan cel Mare (m.1518), Stefan Voda (m.1527) and Mrs Mary Rares (m .1529)
Putna monastery walls are the tombstones of Metropolitan Teoctist (m.1477) and James Puteanul (m.1778)
Putna Monastery was an important artistic center with workshops on embroidery, calligraphers and miniaturists. He had a tradition cronicărească - Chronicle of Putna Chronicle Azariah. It was proclaimed by carving wooden crosses.Putna Monastery Museum hosts:
collection of embroidery (cover of the tomb of Mary of Mangop -1477, the oldest portrait of Moldovan art embroidery sized)
manuscript - designs quality and variety of colors are represented by
Gospel of Humor (1473) and two in 1488-1507.
